India called for experts, but never asked for financial assistance. Japan is a much more developed economy; it doesn't need your dollars.

My sympathy and prayers go to the victims in Japan, but you are right, it is a modern, efficient society that should not need our financial help.
Write for Japan is auctioning off works to raise money for donations.
No matter how well off a country, they cannot really afford to build up the whole infrastructure on their own... Thanks for the tip.

Rayna, thank your for dropping by. I've been remiss as well and totally understand how circumstances can pull one in so many directions. We can only do what we can do. But with young kids to care for, your days are especially full. I know their bright smiles warm your heart and provide hope that tomorrow's youth will smile brighter.
I think people worldwide are numbed by what happened in Japan. So many lives lost in the blink of an eye. You're right, this prosperous country doesn't need financial support. But I'd gladly contribute if more immediate funds speeded recovery. Having said that, you're right again, Japan needs emotional support and all the positive energy we can send its people. How they've reacted to this tragedy is an inspiration beyond words. I just wish the world could right its axis. There's just too much turmoil. Hugs! (For you kids, too!)
