Chilli flavoured chocolate

It had been a very stressful day, and I wanted only for it to end, so I could crawl into bed and hope the next day would be better. Relief came sooner than I hoped. Finished my jobs early, and when the kids went to play, made myself a mug of decadent hot chocolate. Molten Chocolate, spiced with cinnamon and mint, garnished with chilli flakes. I settled myself on my most comfortable chair and opened the note my younger one gave me- “Love you”, it said. All was forgiven, all forgotten.
Love is chilli-flavoured chocolate. The oddest medley of tastes.

Often turn out Right

Yesterday, on a whim, I decided to surprise the Hubby by baking him a birthday cake. I gathered all the ingredients before realizing that the expiry date of the baking powder had passed two years back. Too late to do anything about it, I left it out altogether. The cake, naturally, didn’t rise, but it smelt good otherwise.
Today, in a fit of inspiration, I cut the cake in half, and sandwiched a layer of Nutella and banana slices in between. It was delicious.
Things don’t always turn out as we want them to, but they often turn out right.

Pamper yourself!

My morning and afternoon was for hubby and the kids. Stayed in bed till late talking about this that and the other. Cooked a Sunday lunch they enjoy much more than I do. Played a game with the older one, read awhile with the younger, and made paper swords for them to practice fencing with.

Then I packed his overnight bag and waved the hubby goodbye. Helped the kids into their raincoats and sent them down to play. And I baked myself a brownie-in-a-mug and curled-up inside my quilt with a whodunit who company. Sometimes, you need to pamper yourself.

The Choice

"Come on, choose", he said. One hand held the camera-lens-cap I'd lost. The other a chocolate biscuit. Dark, tempting, irresistible.
It wasn't meant to be taken seriously- no matter which I chose, I would have got both. But it somehow became the most significant choice of my life.

'Life can't be too bad as long as there is chocolate', is my motto. I celebrate with chocolate. Chocolate is how I deal with pain. I was being asked to choose between that is fundamentally me, and something I wanted at that moment.

It's scary how close I came to choosing wrong.
