The Greatest Joy of All- Day 10 of #100happydays

When I am in a car, even three miles seem to go on forever. Any distance over ten miles appears so long, I wonder how “anyone” can cover it on foot. And yet, that is the minimum distance I run practically every weekend. And I do so without much effort.
Is it because running is a form of meditation? A time when I can let thoughts enter my mind, and then let go. A time I can spend with Myself.
Could I even have guessed, when I started running, that one day it would become the greatest joy of all?

Bringing down the Tree- Day 8 of #100happydays

The was the first Christmas at our new place. The kids and I had taken hours to select the tree. We’d decorated it with baubles gifted by friends from across the world. For weeks, the tree dominated our live and our living room.
I thought I would be sad when it was time to bring the tree down; instead I found myself humming while winding up the fairy lights and wrapping the decorations in tissue. Because though this Festive season is over, there will be many more.
This is just the start of many wonderful years in our Lovely Home.

True Contentment- Day 2 of #100happydays

I had set my heart on participating in an All-Women 100k Ultramarathon, but just couldn’t make it work for logistical reasons. But a friend registered for the race, and even finished it. Happy though I was for her, I expected there to be a lingering taste of disappointment when I met her. Not so. While she was speaking of it, I was there with her, for her.

When you reach the stage where you are genuinely happy for someone else for getting something that had been denied to you, that’s the day when you realize you have discovered true contentment.

Cooking Happiness- Day 1 of #100happydays

Cheesecake is one of the few things we agree on as a family. Specially strawberry cheesecake. We don’t tolerate it. We don’t merely like it. We, all four of us, love it. Even the younger one who is absolutely indifferent to anything that needs to be consumed, and the husband who’s perfected the art of gobbling stuff without having to taste it.

So when I found fresh strawberries in the market, I picked up the rest of the ingredients, and proceeded to make cheesecake. It took forever, but can there be anything more fun than Cooking Happiness for the Family?
