An Unexpected Smile

For the first time in years, I took a professional call in the gym today. There are floor-to-ceiling mirrors on all the walls, and though I was concentrating on the call, it was impossible to avoid seeing my reflection talking into the phone. It was only towards the end of the call that I realized that I had been smiling throughout- a full smile, not a tentative one.

Do I really smile that much when I meet someone for the first time? Does a smile even get transmitted over the phone?

Either way, I loved discovering something new about myself!

Rayna - What a wonderful 'photo! I just love those "million-megawatt smiles" in it!

And yes, smiles do get transmitted over the 'phone. I learned that lesson when I was in the business world. A smile matters, whether it's in person or on the 'phone.

I think a smile actually does come across over the phone. You can tell by the voice if it's real or fake.

Smiling is good! My wife is always prodding me to smile when I talk on the phone. Says it comes through in one's voice.

@ Margot - thank you- I love that photograph of smiles too.
Maybe the smile at the other end of the phone is why you take to some people and not to others. Must continue smiling even when there is nobody to see:-)

@ Marjorie - never really thought about it, but it is nice to knwo that people do think a smile does come across.

@ Diandra - WOW! Am I glad I smile.

@ Dorte - yes they do. As does your positive outlook.

@ Alex - if so many people say so, I guess it is true.

@ Holly - amazing that so many people seem to know what I only just figured out.

@ Rekha - ditto. I smile when I am taking about something I am passionate about.
Which, luckily, is most of my business calls.

@ Jemi - thank you. And yes, I do tend to smile a little more than I should.
