We are Mean to Planet Earth

"We are being Mean to Planet Earth", my five year old told me this morning. "And soon the whole Earth will Die."
"Oh really? Can we do anything to save Planet Earth?"

"We must not waste water."
"And we shouldn't cut trees."
"And we should plant more trees."
"And we shouldn't throw garbage on the road."
"And we shouldn't kill animals."
"And we shouldn't burn plastic."
"And we should seg-seg-segigate garbage."
"And we should walk or take a cycle."

Maybe none of those things could have prevented today's Tsunami, but I wish adults did what our children want us to.

Children are so wise, if only we would listen.

Sometimes our children know more than we do. If it's so obvious to them, maybe we should look to them for solutions. What a wonderful world THAT would be...

What a wise boy. My kids say this all the time... let's hope they cherish the earth better than adults do.

Kids tell the truth, and they tend to see much clearer than we do.

It's a shame most of us lose that kind of clarity as we grow older. I always thought it must be part of those sharp edges society tends to smooth away...

Sash is right - they see the answers without inhibition. Tell your son I'm doing my part not to kill animals by being a vegan!

We do need to follow the hearts of our kids - they always know the best way to proceed in these kinds of matters.

Our kids do know what to do-- let's hope there's something left of it.

Stopping in to see you dear Rayna...your son is wise beyond his years and speaks the truth, nothing but the truth!

Rayna - Your son has much to teach us all. I, too, wish adults had that kind of wisdom...

*sigh* (not much else to add Rayna)

Your five year old is so caring of the earth. One person can help make a difference, even if that person is five years old.

That would make a wonderful poster for earth day.

@ Mary - they are, aren't they?

@ Michele - that would be a great world indeed. I am sure my kids and yours have more empathy than most of the people actually running the world.

@ Fiona - our kids are wiser than we were, and much more empathetic than the people who run things.

@ Sash - education is a horrible thing- it makes you lose so many things that are important.

@ Jaycee - :-)

@ Diane - I will, for sure. Many of us care, but unfortunately we do not run the world, nor care to :-(

@ Jemi - they do, don't they?

@ Danette - and something decent. All things considered, things are better than I would have expected it to be when I was teen, so maybe there is hope.

@ Donna - thank you, Donna. I have been very remiss these last weeks. But am hoping life eases down a bit.

@ Margot - if adults had the wisdon and compassion that kids do, it would be a good world, wouldn't it?

@ Sue - :-)

@ Susanne - I think they do have a make a poster for Earth Day, and I was working around captions exactly like that one! Great minds....
