One Bride for Three Brothers

One Bride for Three Brothers.

Sounds like the name of a farcical comedy, doesn’t it? But for Munni, it is a harsh reality. Married to a man several years older than her, she is forced to have sex with his unmarried brothers too, and has no idea which of the brothers is the father of her three sons.

When there are less than 9 women to every 10 men, you would expect that women would be valued for the scarce commodity that they are. But apparently not. New ways are found to redress the balance.

How will it all end?

drabble is a story told in exactly 100 words.

That's a really sad story. And it's so true that bad things like that happen all over the world.

When we redress the injustice of women being trade-able, sell-able, toss-able commodities - we will have the enlightened society we desire. Until then - keep telling it like it is, Natasha.

Whether there are more or less women in society, they still get the worst of it. 'Matrubhumi' was a chilling film based on the same dreadful scenario.

Heart-breaking. Thank you for telling her story and reminding us we still have far to go.

Natasha - This is just awful! Whenever I read stories like this I ask myself, "How can people let this happen!?" How very, very sad...

I thought of you the other day at work. A young Indian man named Kumar was in conversation with others in the office when some part of the conversation caused him to state that in India it is allowed for a man to hit his wife without fear of reprisal. That is as sad as your story today.
