Never argue

I have always believed in healthy discussions. I state my point, listen to the other person, have a heated argument, and often call it quits by agreeing to disagree.
But how do you have a meaningful discussion with someone who doesn’t have anything to say, but still wants to say it? With someone who latches onto a peripheral part of your argument, and refutes it in long laborious statements, while ignoring the main thing that you were trying to convey.
Guess I should stop being so generous with my time. Not everyone has something to say. Why listen to them?

Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level, then knock you down with experience.

This is the fourth year that I am going to be a part of NaBloWriM. The Plan is to elaborate (in 100 words) on a quote that touched my heart- let's see how far this takes me. If I can tie it in with the writing prompt, so much the better!

Truer words were never spoken. Or typed :)

Natasha - I know exactly what you mean. A healthy debate about ideas requires that everyone involved engage themselves in the debate about the main point. Sad that doesn't always happen...
