One Year

It is when I look at my kids through their grandmother's eyes, is when I realize how much they have grown in the past year. Not just in height, but in skills, maturity, and sheer grown-upness. The younger one is doing now what the older one was doing a year back. And the older one has picked up things nobody ever suspected he would. They have both come into their own, and established themselves as individuals.
But, one year is a long time. Specially considering that birds evolve from egg to (nearly) full-grown bird in just slightly over a week.

_____
drabble is a story told in exactly 100 words.

A very thoughtful post. I teach 3 year olds and it's always bittersweet seeing them grow so quickly.

They gain so many skills physically, emotionally, socially, and cognitively.....and it's sad to see them loose their 'baby-ness'....

One child used to call me Ducky. I nearly cried when she finally got my name right.

Lovely, lovely post.....and the photos are beautiful!

Natasha - One year really does go by so quickly, doesn't it? That's why I so admire you for savouring every drop of your children's childhoods. You'll always have those memories now, no matter how fast the time goes :-).

Fine illustrations - and do remember to enjoy them because before you know it, they will be taller than you :D

Oh yes, the years are rushing by. My oldest is now taller than me. At 14, he can put his arm around me and my shoulder is in his armpit. He's not just taller, he's 5 inches taller than I am. Now granted, I'm only 5'3", but so was he. A year ago.

A year is such a long time ... and such a short time at the same time! :)

Kids grow and learn and emerge so much in a year! It's a joy and an honour to watch them :)

What an interesting comparison Rayna. Quite thought inspiring. How are you going to sum up the A-Z in just 100 words...now there is a challenge!

What a wonderful photo. It's true that the years go by so fast. I remember when my son was a baby and now he's almost 16.
