On Woman

"Why do you give your husband your hard-earned money when you know he is only going to spend it on getting drunk?", said she to her maidservant. "It is all your fault. If you don't give him money, he can't get drunk, and he wouldn't then beat you."

The maidservant blocked out the entire conversation- there was nothing she hadn't heard from the lady of every house she had ever worked in. How would those high-born ladies ever understand that she would rather her drunk husband beat her, than a frustrated beast rape their daughter if she refused him money.

_____
drabble is a story told in exactly 100 words.

Last year, it was W for WiP

Natasha - What a terrible, terrible dilemma for a woman to face! This is one reason why it's so often a big mistake to judge people. How do we know what we would do under the same circumstances....

It's difficult to realize that we can never truly know another's life.
You've managed to tell a heart wrenching story beautifully.

This is why you are the master of the Drabble. You manage to cut through all the crap and tell a story that touches people with only 100 words.

What a gift you have! It's truly wonderful how you can make me feel all these emotions, have several mental discussions and want to Do Something - all in 100 words.

Women will do or put up with whatever they can to protect their children.

Geez, that one really gets me. In a hundred words, you sure give us a lot to think about.
