On Running

My favourite running route

Five years back, if anyone asked me to run 5 kilometers, I would have laughed out loud. Sports was something other people did, and I watched. Running included. A half marathon was an incomprehensible distance- a distance that one could walk in  a pinch, but never run. And yet today, I feel I am cheating myself if I do not register for a full marathon.

"The challenge in running is not to aim at doing the things no one else has done, but to keep doing things anyone could do but most never will."

Replace "running" with "living", if you like.

drabble is a story told in exactly 100 words.

Last year, it was R for eRm, eRm, eRm, ...well, R for a lot of things

The quote is perfect, Rayna!

Natasha - I so admire you for daring yourself to do something you never thought you could do. Isn't it interesting how trying something just once can change our whole outlook?

And starting today, I'm going to do both. Thanks for the prod.

Rayna, that is pretty well said. Good words for us all.

I never run, ever (pretty much).
(OK maybe when I am about to miss a train).
But I am very happy to subscribe to your philosophy.

I'm stealing that quote! I so remember this feeling of, "I could never do that," regarding running. I met all my running goals, and it served me well as a stress reducer, energy builder, and completely portable work-out regardless of where I found myself. Have shoes, will run.
