Some things are more important

I’m trying to write my Sunday drabble, when the sons descend on me.
"Mamma, is your work done?"
"Not yet, Darling. A couple of minutes more."
"When will you be done?"
"Another fifteen minutes, Baby."
"You said that fifteen minutes back."
"I did?" Yes, of course I did. And for the last fifteen minutes I have been playing Bejeweled Blitz waiting for the Muse to come.
"When are you going to finish?"
"Why? What do you want?"
"Nothing!"
"Tell me. I’ll do it now."
"Nothing. We just wanted to talk."
I get up. Some things are more important than drabbles.

So true, some things are more important than anything else and I'd say those two fit the bill.

So true.. we don't want our kids to just remember our backs as we sit hunched over computers...

@ Fiona/ Mason - it is sad that we often forget that, isn't it? The good thing is that kids are quick to remind.

What a couple of lovelies! I could just squish them. I have two boys only now they are men and I miss their boy selves! One is 6'8" and the other 6'4". They are my big boys but inside their big old bodies are two squishable boys!

@ Dipali - they are, aren't they? And I even got a drabble out of it.

@ Jan - do they still allow you to hug them like you used to, and do you still feel like doing it? My older one has already started resisting my hugs, though he does sometimes come and demand a hug himself.

Your sons are so cute. I think my son (14) is used to his parents (both geeks) spending too much time on the computer.
Great reminder for things important.

Rayna, thank you for a great example. It's so hard to balance priorities with all the demands - work, writing, a million other things as well as taking care of little ones. What darlings, too! Thank you for the reminder.

Loved the pic! And yeah, sometimes I just drop everything and join 'em too...the world can wait, my kids can't!

@ Ann - I think a 14 year old would rather have his parents chained to a computer.

@ Debra - thanks!

@ Al - it is, isn't it?

@ Faith - do you really need the reminder? I suspect not. You inspire me to spend more time with the kids.

@ starry - everything else can wait, can't it? And, thanks!
