M for ..... Maill

This is a work of fiction and forms a part of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. I will attempt to write a new story based on the word for the day every day during the month of April.

Maya was transported back to her childhood when she saw the dazzling array of postcards on display at a shack on the beach. She picked up a dozen, and spent the next two hours meticulously writing a personal note on each of them.
In this age of IMs, and of being tagged on holiday photographs on facebook, Maya knew her friends would appreciate her gesture of sending individual postcards.
It was only after affixing the stamps on the cards, and slipping them into the postbox, that Maya had a sudden thought- did her friends even know where their letterbox was?

______

A Drabble is a story told in exactly 100 words.

Or, to be more specific, did they even have letterboxes? I don't :(

Nice observation of how times have changed. Good work! :)

teehee--I know my kids occasionally get mail and would never know it, where I used to RUN for the mailbox every day as a teen. I had a dozen or more pen pals and was very dedicated to all of them.

That's is a good question...and a statement on one of the problems of todays society.

You do so much with 100 words.

Natasha - Human contact has changed so much hasn't it? I love the instant contact you can have with friends on the Internet, but there is something about a real letter...
