L for ..... Laughter

This is a work of fiction and forms a part of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. I will attempt to write a new story based on the word for the day every day during the month of April.

The moment she saw the marble floor, Layla knew she was in trouble. It would be a miracle if she managed to navigate that vast expanse in her stilettos. She imagined a dozen pair of eyes watching her as she took one gingerly step after the other. She’d almost made it, when the inevitable happened- she tripped, landed on her back and slid right across the lobby.
She wished she could become invisible, but this was no fairy-tale. Instead she did the only thing she could. “That was some ride, wasn’t it”, she said. And laughed. They laughed with her.

I used to be terrified of polished dance floors when I used to wear high heels. It's not a problem now. I've given up heels years ago. And yes, it is good for us to be able to laugh at ourselves.
