F for..... FaceBook

This is a work of fiction and forms a part of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. I will attempt to write a new story based on the word for the day every day during the month of April.

The people on her friend list couldn’t help but be envious of Faye. Her prefect hair, her perfect smile, her perfect clothes, her perfect shoes, her perfect handbag, her perfect holidays in perfect destinations. Everyday was a new status update- Instagramed pictures of Faye leaning out of a Lamborghini, of Faye sipping champagne against a backdrop of the Eiffle Tower, of Faye chilling on a beach. Sometimes, the envy even turned to hate.
Till one day, her page fell silent. Those who cared soon found out that Faye had gassed herself. Her perfect life was apparently only FaceBook perfect.

A Drabble is a story told in exactly 100 words.

Excellent drabble. I think that a lot of people have "Facebook Lives" and even more that the people who "follow" really just enjoy seeing the photos or hearing interesting stories - but care little for the person behind them.

(Discovered you through A-Z Challenge. And now I want to try a drabble again :D))

Sadly that is not an uncommon story. But profoundly sad every time you hear it.

This is so sad and what I find really interesting with your drabbles is that the brevity adds to the intensity.

Natasha - That's the thing about people. They can seem on the surface so very 'together' and enviable and you never know what's happening underneath. You really express that beautifully.

I read all six of your drabbles thus far in the A to Z challenge and I love how you infuse wisdom and the "bigger picture" into each one.

I also love that 100 word posts are easy to read in their entirety during the madness of A to Z!

Keep up the fantastic work. I would love to play with this concept over at my site, if you don't mind, and provide a link back to your page. I do writing prompts of all shapes and sizes, and I think this concept would fit in very nicely.

Best of luck with the rest of the challenge! I will be back for another visit! :)
