"Nothing", I answered. Either something is in my control or it is not. If something is in my control and I can't sleep, I'd rather get up and do it through the night. And if something is not in my control, what's the point of losing sleep over it?
The things most people lose sleep over, I tend to work off either with chocolate or a long run- the latter is more effective, the former more fun.
But I lied. One thing does keep me awake at night- a good book.

A drabble is a story told in exactly 100 words.

You're so right... wish I could have the same attitude. And I can blame lots of lost sleep on good books!
A good book has kept me awake at night, more than once.
: )
Oh me too on the book thing. I tend to sleep really soundly, with lots of dreams. I do have instances of insomnia, but they are usually due to pain and not something fiddling about in my brain.
A good book can keep me up at night and about the only other thing is when I'm worried about one of my children. Other than that my husband jokes all the time about how I can fall asleep within a minute of putting my head on the pillow.
Rayna - I once read this little poem: For every ill that's under the sun, there is a remedy or there's none. If there is one, try and find it; if there isn't, never mind it. Your healthy, wonderful attitude reminded me of that...
And besides, losing sleep over anything but a really good book saps one's energy and makes it harder to cope with life's stresses, anyway...
Awesome one! And so true!
Perfect ending!
Nothing keeps me up at night - I crash, I'm gone!
Love this. The only thing that keeps me awake at night is if I've had too much chocolate.
A good book! LOL wonderful little story post! I loved it!
ahh--love it! Yes. A good book. And a good run. Man! I can so tell it when I've missed one.
Love that little cutie sleeping~ :o) <3
I wish I could do that! I'm a worrier.
What keeps me up? Too much coffee and other liquids right before going to bed.
I agree, a good book definitely keeps me awake.
I used be like you but now it is:
1) the dog, Hoagy has escaped, I can hear him barking and I can't get him home. (last two nights)
2) the sweet patootie is snoring and I've neglected to get to sleep before him so I have to go downstairs BEFORE I get angry and sleep.
3) I don't and I'm angry and then I'm all revved up...
4) worry about money, bills, the kids, the step-kids, the daughter-in-law, the dad, the step-mother, the grand-kids, the sister and so on...
5) When all of the above happen or any of the above I HAVE to have a good book or three so I don't care so much.
OMG... a good book for me too. And I've been buying them on iBooks on the iPad and reading at night - it's great, don't even need a flashlight (flashback of when I was a kid).. If I start a good book, I don't put it down, not even for sleep!!
More than anything else, a good book keeps me up.
That picture is so peaceful!
I need this. Oh, how I need this!
Thank you!
wish i could do that!! but the last line is so true... that is one thing that totally drives sleep away!
I used to lose sleep over certain things--that can wait for tomorrow--or certain people--who I had to kick out of my life. Now only books may keep me up at night.
Yes! A good book will do that or for me...creative ideas keep me awake so I just get up and enter my studio and work them out! Ha!
Lovely photo!

@ Fiona - books are the best possible reason for sleeplessness, aren't they?
@ Susanne - to the extent, I sometimes refuse to pick up a book I know will be good if I do not think I have the time to finish it
@ Tina - pain keeps me awake. I try not to let thoughts do it.
@ Jen - apart from books and sleepless babies, there have been only two times I have not been able to sleep - when I was in labour with my first child, and the night before my operation.
@ Susan - I do think worring about kids is going to cost me a couple of nights of sleep in future.
@ Margot - what a lovely poem. And so true.
@ gargimehra - thank you.
@ Holly - thanks
@ Alex - yes, that's me too.
@ kmckendry - my dear, there is no such thing as too much chocolate.
@ Summer - thank you
@ LTM - thanks, and thanks.
@ Guinevere - I used to be, till I realised it is pointless. You have to work at not being one.
@ Diane - I don't normally have coffee at night, so don't know.
@ Cheree - it does, doesn't it?
@ Jan - you have your cup of woes full. And deserve a good book or three.
@ Aleta - that's a great idea. Never realised that particular advantage of e-readers
@ Mary - and that is really teh only thing that should.
@ Grandpa - I am glad I could help. And I hope things are better now.
@ Anu - you just have to work at it.
@ Medeia - we are sailing in the same boat, and it is a great boat to be in ;-)
@ SueAnn- yes, I am sure that is one other thing that would keep any creative person awake
