Passion

Her concentration was intense; she would not be distracted from the task literally on hand. A perfectionist; she had to get every line of the pattern just right.

Her customer had paid her in advance. She only came a few times a year; however satisfied, it was unlikely her customer would ever remember her enough to come back to her. She could have done a bad job and gotten away with it. But she gave it her all.

For her, applying henna was not just a way to earn some extra money. It was her passion.

Passion makes everything worthwhile.

Rayna - Such a vivid description of passion! The most truly alive people I know are that way because they are passionate about their lives. They put themselves into those lives, and they are the ones, in my opinion, who also get the most out of those lives. And we all benefit from that...

What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful young woman! It warms my heart to read about "ordinary" people who live their quiet lives in extraordinary ways, proud of what they do and doing it well. Thank you!

Yes, passion is very important. Passion to do our very best.

You're right! Passion does make everything worthwhile. I love the way you get that point across!

You have to have passion. Life is too boring without passion. Who cares what other people think. Get excited and damn the torpedoes!

That kind of focus and passion is what makes the time zoom by when we write, paint watercolors, or even bake holiday cookies. We live in that present and enjoy every second of it.

I've heard of this - the intricate and beautiful designs! It has to be a passion - to create. You describe it so well.

I love that-passion defeating little pay or remembrance. It's amazing what we do with passion...thank you so much for reminding me of how wonderful passion is!

Rayna - Love henna. I think they're so beautiful. And, if you do something with passion, it makes it worth while. Beautiful drabble!

I’ve tried writing Haiku but never drabble. I love this concept and I love your drabbles. What I particularly enjoyed about Passion was that it allowed me, just for the moment, to enter a world that is so very different from my own.

@ Margot- I do so love people who are passionate about that they do, don't you. I really don't care what they do, or even how good they are at it, as long as they do it with passion.

@ Alex- it does, doesn't it?

@ Barbara- ;-)

@ Diane- I guess in our own way, all of us do.

@ Ann- those are the stories I love best too. Because they are about people who keep at it, even if they don't get the right reward.

@ Holly- thank you.

@ Talli- thank you.

@ Stephen- precisely. The only person you need to please is yourself and anyone else who accepts you as you are.

@ Patricia- precisely. No past, no future, just the present moment of fulfillment.

@ Mary- thank you. And so true.

@ Melissa- thank you.

@ Aleta- thank you. A lot of people do it because it is very lucrative, but this girl was clearly loving what she was doing.

@ Oddyoddyo13- and thank you! That is the best thing that could be, isn't it?

@ Mason- I do hope they do. But most can't tell the difference between something really good, and something merely okay.

@ RaShelle- I particularly love the smell of henna, though most people don't care too much for it.

@ Clarissa- absolutely, and thank you.

@ Rosalind- thank you- that is the best compliment anyone could ever give.
And you must try your hand at drabbles- they are great fun.
