Listen to yourself

My first trip on the Delhi Metro. The man at the ticket counter told me which platform to go to. My instinct told me he was wrong, so I asked another. He corroborated what the first guy said. The signage was ambiguous. I asked a third and got the same reply. My sense of direction could not be that wrong. The train arrived. I should have climbed on, but I chose to obey my instincts.

A train came on the other platform. I climbed in.

Had I not listed to myself, I would have ended up in the next state.

And this could so easily happen as well!

Hi there. I just popped over from PK's blog. I'd never heard of drabble, before. Nice stuff.

I’ve had this happen. I wondered if they heard me correctly. Perhaps a bunch of people just asked for the other train ‘cause of some event and he/they just assumed. Instincts are good.

Instinct is amazing, isn't it? The older I get the more I rely on it. It's there for a reason.

It's the Weekly Spotlight on my blog today, and it's all about you. :)

Great instincts. My sense of direction is appaling, who knows where I'd have ended up.

What a great little vignette and a wonderful reminder to trust our instincts!

We should always listen to that little voice inside.

Rayna - What a great reminder! Very often that little voice inside us is right. It is so important to pay attention to it. And I like your story of the train station, too. So many people are willing to accept what station employees say without even thinking about it...

So true! :D

Just popped over from PK's blog too :)

Now if that was me, my instinct would have landed me in the next state. No sense of direction whatsoever. Good for you.

Isn't women's intuition great?

It took me too many years to learn this lesson, to listen to myself even when I didn't have all the evidence to prove me right. Good for you!

I'm usually much better off following someone else's instincts when it comes to direction!

As so many others commented, it's wise to pay attention to our instincts.

@ Laura- it could, couldn't it?

@ salarsenッ- thanks for dropping by. I am crazy busy this week and next, but I will drop by and visit you as soon as I can breathe.

@ Holly- it is the first time something like this happened to me. I am glad I didn't listen.

@ Pk Hrezo- I cannot thank you enough for spotlighting (is that even a word?) me.

@ Dyche- luckily, on a suburban rail, there is only so far that you can go.

@ Talli- totally. I always trusted my instincts, now I will even more.

@ Fiona - thank you.

@ Alex- absolutely.

@ Margot- well, if you can't trust the person in authority, who can you trust? But they are human too.

@ Marieke- thanks for dropping by. I will return the visit when my life gets back some semblence of normalcy.

@ Summer- thank you for dropping by, and I will visit as soon as I can breathe.

@ Ann- I guess I was just lucky.

@ Melissa- that voice does know.

@ Diane- the best.

@ Aleta- that voice is almost always right.

@ Jemi- normally, I check with multiple people, but in this case all of them were wrong in the same way.

@ Mason- it does, doesn't it?

@ Julie- yes, that voice was really mad at me for not listening.

@ Clarissa- it does, doesn't it?

@ SueAnn- I often do the same myself.

@ Patricia- absolutey.
