Angelic smile, and an Award

He was listing out his grievances; I had heard it all before, and was barely listening. One sentence hit the mark, "Everyone scribbles on my books."
"Who scribbles on your books?", I demanded. "You are the one who scribbles on our books."
"Not at home. In school."
"Who does?"
He named names.
"Why don't you tell Teacher?"
"I am afraid."
"Then I'll tell her."
"Yes. Do."

That triggered the Mommy-alarm. "Are you sure you don't trouble them?"
Angelic smile.
"Because if Teacher tells me you trouble them, I'll be really angry."
"Then don't tell Teacher. Nobody scribbles on my books."

_____
drabble is a story told in exactly 100 words.

Vicki Rocho @ Rambles & Randomness passed on the "One Lovely Blog Award" to me a couple of days back. If you haven't visited Vicki yet, you are missing one lovely blog. Check out her post, Kissing up to Karma, and help her spread a bit of unexpected happiness.

Since I have already received the Award, I am not passing it onto anyone right now. But I reserve the right to do so when I have the mindspace to list some more Lovely Blogs.

Thank you Vicki, and thank you EVERYONE for reading.

Would you look at that face. :0)

@ Dyche - aren't I mean for insinuating that he could even think of pulling someone's hair, much less actually doing so?

I see the mischief behind the smile! You captured him so well, and the story captures childhood, as well. Nicely done!

Congratulations on the award. Love the drabble. The photo is priceless. So innocent, yet just a hint of mischief or maybe mystery.

Ryana - Congratulations on your richly-deserved award!! Your blog truly is lovely, and is one of my top must-visits every day.

Little wonder, too, after today's Drabble. I laughed at the end, mostly in understanding, because that very same kind of thing has happened to me, too. Amazing how innocent children can seem when they would rather not admit what they've done...

Rayna! BRILLIANT photo!!! He is a wonderful subject, no doubt, but, man, that's one helluva shot.

I so laughed out loud when I got to the end. Great spirit, great story!

Oh, you have a mischevious one on your hands! I have used this tactic with mine before..."So I'll talk to the teacher and she'll tell me the same thing?" Such a great test. :)

Congrats on the award. You know, people just can't stop giving them to you! :)

I love the picture and the story. It's probably a good thing for him your Mommy-alarm went off.

@ Tricia- thank you, and thank you. He's a born actor, and very easy to capture.

@ Mason- the photograph just "goes" with the drabble, doesn't it?

@ Lance - thank you.

@ KarenG- thank you. If he knows, he'll keep doing it again and again.

@ Laura- he definitely qualifies, and how!

@ Margot- kids are all the same, aren't they? But that's what makes them so adorable.

@ Barbara- he is a born model. But no wonder, his mom is the paparazzi. Thank you.

@ Holly- wouldn't you believe that.

@ Michele- that is the only thing that really works, isn't it? Long may these days last.

@ Hart- near impossible. I can tell you- I am the expert at trying to get mad at that face.

@ Kerrie- thank you.

@ Sree- thank you.

@ sarah- she does, doesn't she?

@ Clarissa- that belongs to his great grandfather, and is rather frayed around the edges.

@ Leigh - so true. What would be do without our mommy alarms?

@ Pamela Jo - thank you

@ Alex- he couldn't, can he?

@ Jemi- the personification of that look, isn't it?

@ Jules- that would be cool.

@ Chary - his teacher is a saint. All teachers are.
