Why does a Heart look like that?

"Do you know a heart has four rooms?"
"It does?"
"Yes. And blood goes from auricle to ventricle. But it doesn't go from right room to left room."
"Wow, I never knew that. Who told you?"
"Teacher! But you know something, teacher doesn't know anything."
"Why?"
"Because she showed us a heart, and it didn't even look like a heart."
"Maybe that is how a heart really looks."
"Then why does a heart has two round round on top and pokey-pokey at the bottom? Is that a different kind of heart?"

I shrugged. It is impossible to satisfy seven-year olds.

Rayna - I just love children's perspectives! They can teach us so much about how to look at the world. This is just delightful :-).

Two round-round and a pokey-pokey! Best description of a heart I've ever heard!!

And it's a very valid question. Why DOES a heart look like that: <3 ?

Now I'm wondering... why DOES a heart go round round pokey pokey? Great description!

Love "pokey-pokey"!

To reason as a child is a blessing. Simple and pure.

Nicely Done; Yes, that age does test one's patience. They are inquisitive and persistent, it doesn't end...

@ Margot- they do have a refreshing take on things, don't they?

@ Debra- I have been thinking that everytime I saw a heart since hearing it.

@ Jen - it is, isn't it? Priceless.
Mari says it has something to do with how the unmentionable part of the posterior looks.

@ Faith -according to Mari, it is a description of the posterior, or one part of it

@ Mary - lovely, isn't it?

@ Sonia - he's convinced that is not the real one!

@ Dipali- so apt, isn't it?

@ Alex - thank you for the award. I look forward to passing it on.

@ SueAnn - my kid would empathise, and you with him.

@ Ella- fascinating age, if you have the time to listen.

@ Jemi- most of us seem to have wondered. I wonder why we never thought to change it?
