Love Travelling

"I'm bored." "Why don't you do some colouring?" "Okay. I want my paints." "I didn't bring paints. How about crayons? Sketch pens? Colour pencils? Okay, just stay bored."

"That's my toy." "No, mine." "Mine!" "Mamma, make him give me my toy." "Just try." "Why did you throw the toy down? Why?" "No, don't pick it up. Thousands of millions of germs."

"Don't stare." "Why not?" "It's not polite to stare." "I am bored." "Read a book." "You got all stupid books."

Sometimes I find it hard to believe there was a time when I loved travelling. A time before kids!

Rayna - I laughed when I read your post. I grew up among brothers and sisters, and those comments just sound so familiar! Having an only child, I don't hear them when we travel now, but I truly admire you for taking both your children on a long trip!

Hang in there! Some day they'll be teens and won't want to travel anywhere with you.

No kidding! Traveling with kids is a pain. I'm taking mine to Europe for the first time in a couple months. I must be crazy!

Is that what I'm missing?

"When will we be there?" "Are we there soon?"

One of my tricks when our children were smaller was to point out beautiful houses we drove past. And I believe this is one of the reasons why our daughter notices good architecture when she sees it today.

Cool picture with the hearts! I remember traveling with little kids, not a lot of fun. But they do grow up and leave home...eventually.

You bring back memories; my two still have their moments...augh~
Hang in there, this is nothing compared to teaching them to drive and asking for the car keys or they want to date, who?!

I just had to laugh, you've described the whole scenario so well! Sometimes those days seem to go on for ever without any respite. It really does get better. Keep smiling, and go for a good long run when you can.

@ Margot- I was an only child (like your's), so all of this is new to me. How mothers ever cope with multiple kids, I will never know.
And, I no longer do! Value my sanity too much.

@ Dipali - are they different now. Hope for me, in that case!

@ Jan- you anyone could do it more than once, I will never understand. Hats off to you.

@ Debra- that would be the day. There are so many places I want to visit. If they no longer want to hang on, I can do all those places.

@ Pk - you must be crazy. Or very, very brave.
All the best.

@ Alex- now you know what you are missing!

@ Dorte- that's a great idea. All I point out are funny advertisements. That, clearly, is not too much fun.

@ Kathi- how anyone dares travel with kids, I really can't imagine. And, I am waiting for the day when I can travel without them.

@ Ella- the father has already volunteered to teach them to drive- he doesn't trust me to do it properly. So that is one pleasure I may be spared.

@ Sue- how do you know that is precisely what I did?

You WILL love traveling again. I promise!
