Best Friends Forever

Annabell is beautiful. Huge masses of golden hair. Blue eyes fringed with long lashes. Red lips shaped like rosebuds.

Annabell is My Human's favourite doll. She sits daintily on a shelf well above the chaos of the Nursery, and is brought down only on special occasions.
I am jealous of Annabell. I wish I were beautiful. Then I would be My Human's favourite doll. Her friends would admire me, not Annabell.
But when My Human puts her arms around me at night, I forget everything. So what if I am missing half my fur- every hair has been loved off.

Ah, your fur has been loved off by your human! That makes you truly beautiful...

I'm sure that balding fur-ball felt more love than the beautiful doll. Wonder if he ever truly realized it?

Rayna - What a lovely Drabble about the real values in life :-). Your story reminds me of The Velveteen Rabbit...

Yeah, it's the toys that are used and loved on that matter.

Oh yes, to be loved so much you become real. Nice one, Rayna!

Reminds me of my favourite couple of stuffed guys!

Beautiful! A much-loved bear is one without fur. I think they look gorgeous.

There is admiration from afar and then there is snuggle up close and cuddle love! That is where I wish to be...up close and personal!

It's like the Velvetine Rabbit, eh? There is the worship on a pedestal love and there is the real deal...

I agree, reminds me of the Velveteen Rabbit! Love does that, wears our fur off, we fade on the outside, but
grow rich on the inside~!

Meant to get back to you! Thanks for the prompt to check out the Burrow... it was a lovely surprise to find my Drabble there. I've posted mine today with a link to the Burrow. Also hope your DVDs arrived safely...

This was precious :D True love is often found when all the fur is rubbed off.

@ Fiona - he is, isn't he?

@ Mary - I am pretty sure he did. he would not have called it loved off otherwise, would he?

@ Margot - thank you. I wonder if Velveteen Rabbit is a story that I read when I was about 12? Was it about a rabbit that became real? If it is, it is great that I remember it after so many years.

@ Alex - absolutely. I have many of them. I am lucky.

@ Tina - thank you.

@ Jemi - I wrote about one of mine, actually.

@ Niki - they do, don't they? Even if they do not belong to you.

@ SueAnn - me too. For sure.

@ Hart - now I really must read that story. It sounds familiar, but not quite.

@ Ella - absolutely. And why do I think you are going to have that as your blog template soon?

@ Danette - not yet, but the postal service in India sucks. And thank you for the mention.

@ Jen - it is, isn't it?
