Banging against a Brick Wall

[This fantastic post of Margot Kinberg got me articulating my pet peeves]

Those glasses left on the dining table, which will miraculously sprout legs and trot to the kitchen sink. That habit of saying, "Poor kid. Maybe he is not hungry. Don't force him", when I am trying to get a stubborn kid to finish his meal. Telling me he doesn't need a blanket before I go to bed, then stealing mine and leaving me shivering in the cold.

I know I am far from perfect. I know I have my own quirks which could irritate just as much as any of those things. Why then do these things upset me so?

Rayna - Thank you so much for the mention! I really am honoured that your fabulous Drabble started with my post. *Blush*

And you ask a great question, too. Why is it that when we all know that we're not perfect, we get so very annoyed when we are reminded that others aren't, either? And over the smallest things, too! Heated arguments starting over toothpaste caps or dishes left out. I've been guilty of that kind of thing, too, and I think it might be the risk we run when we share our lives with others. It's worth that consequence to have close networks of people, but no doubt about it - little things get to us all!

It's those little things that drive us crazy!

It's always the little things, isn't it?

I think sometimes that the things that bother me about others are the same exact things that I do, myself! So maybe I'm just frustrated with my own shortcomings...

Pet peeves and pretty photo (maybe "pretty" isn't the right word, but I liked the alliteration! And the photo obviously.

Ah, pet peeves. I don't think anyone will ever know why they're so irksome.

So true! I won't even share a toothpaste tube with my hubby because he rolls it up "wrong"! :)

I think my worst pet peeve is the kids leaving clothing and toys on the floor. It makes me want to scream but I politely ask, "Can you please pick up your belongings? This IS a place of residence after all!"

It is those little things that can make or break our day for sure!!

How very true! I'm the same way. I know that I have quirks that irritate others but I am constantly annoyed by theirs!

I totally agree on the whole blanket thing. My fiance turns a fan on while he's sleeping, then steals the blanket from me. :/

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know I am still reading! I can't seem to find a few extra seconds to comment as often as I could like, but I am still loving your drabbles! Always will. :)

@ Jan - true. Love the way you put it.

@ Margot - your post was absoltely awesome, Margot.
I guess it is all about taking the other person for granted, both ways. I wish it were not so.

@ Fiona- they do. Don't they?

@ Talli - thank you.

@ Alex - for some strange reason, yes. Or at least those are teh ones that irritate us teh most.

@ Elizabeth - never thought of it that way, but you may have something there.

@ Barbara - thank you.

@ Oddyoddyo13 - if I even articulate some of them, they seem so silly.

@ Jemi - you are really something. But I think I know exactly how you feel about the toothpaste.

@ Shaharizan - that's one of the bad ones, yes.

@ SueAnn- it is always the small things, aren't they?

@ Jen - guess we are all exactly the same.

@ Amy - thank you for dropping by. And hope things are goign well for you.
