30 Hours in a Day?

If sixty seconds make a minute, and sixty minutes make an hour, why does a day have only 24 hours? I am not greedy. While I would love to have 60 hours in a day, I am willing to settle for 30. How much more we could get down with six extra hours every day- time for reading AND running AND blogging.

Am I the only one who wants more hours in a day? If all of us wish it deeply, very, very deeply, do you think the earth's rotation would slow down? Anyone wants to give it a try?

Rayna - I know exactly and precisely what you mean. It seems I've no sooner wakened and started my day than I'm falling exhausted into bed that night, with too much left undone. And yet, I also ask myself this: since there are only 24 hours in a day, are we really meant to drive ourselves to exhaustion every night?

If we had 6 more hours in a day, we would probably end up with a legislated 14-hour workday instead of an 8-hour one.

If we had an unlimited amount of time, most things we do would lose their worth. It's the fact that we have time for a lot of things, but not for everything, which forces us to choose and therefore decide what's more valuable to us as individuals and as society.

I love my 24h days. And if I really need more time, I cancel lunch break and work 25 hours. (^v^)

I'll take it, but only if I get to spend half of those extra six hours sleeping.

No, I want it too! Although, I'm not sure I would get more done. Hmm, sleep is accomplishing something...

So clever! Yes, more hours, please. It reminds me of the scene in that old Superman movie, where he spins the world backwards and reverses time. Something like that would work well :D

YES! I want to have a try please. There's so much I want to do and try and be, and give, and I know it's not all possible. Though perhaps not the running ;)
(but my new orthotics mean I can now walk without pain, so I'm very happy about that)

If the earth slowed down, would some of us fall off?

Ha, yes! I'd like more time for reading. I read before bed, but would love just more time with that precious book every night (before I'm too tired to go on).

Well, just an extra hour or two for writing fiction would be great :D

But not on the bad days - the bad days are long enough as it is.

@ Margot - you have a point. And I think not. We were meant to do much less, it is technology that is giving us dreams to do a lot more. But having started doing a lot more, can we do without?

@ Debra - that would be so sad. No, I would not want the extra hours if that is all it is going to go in.

@ Diandra - you make a really great point. I never really thought of it quite that way. Yes, it is the fact that we make time for things that makes us cherish it more.

@ Alex - absolutely. I want 6 extra hours, so I can devote 3 of them to sleep.

@ Clarissa - sleep is definitely something we should factor into those extra horus.

@ Jemi - should we fix a date and tiem when we simultaneously wish?

@ Julie - that's such a cool thought.

@ sue - yipee about walking without pain.

@ Mary - we just want it to slow down a bit. Adn we can hang on tighter.

@ Barbara - precisely.

@ Dorte - yes, there are the bad days too, aren't they? How had I forgotten about them?
