Nasty or Nice?

Yesterday, I had to deal with a lot of nastiness at work. Petty, un-called for nastiness. The nastiness of a bully. Nastiness that should have been nipped in the bud by my boss, but wasn't. I'll be lying if I said it did not affect me- nastiness always does.

Yesterday, I was also the recipient of niceness. The friend who flew into a rage on my behalf. The acquaintance who's smile told me how he felt.

I wish it hadn't happened, but it did. The good thing is that the nastiness will soon be forgotten, but the nice will remain.

Rayna - Lovely drabble! I always find it so interesting the way that both kindness and nastiness are spread around. In both cases, one small act leads to an aura, either of kindness or its opposite. I'm glad your acquaintance chose kindness.

Great drabble. It is wonderful that the niceness will remain while the nastiness is forgotten. That's the way it should be - all nice, no nasty.

I too had some nastiness this weekend that left me reeling. But then -- from so many other sources -- niceness just flowed and flowed and made me strong and less cowed by the nasty.

I send you more nice from my end of the world! :) B

I hate those nasty situations, and the bullies. But I admire your positive attitude. It's great to have friends like that.

Bullies. You think you left them on the playground but they follow you through life!
Nice people seem to be where they are needed most. I'm glad they were there for you.

I haven’t quite figured out why some people insist on being nasty as a way of life. I’m so glad your day was offset by kindness.

Now this is a nice drabble. I feel better already. Hope your next day at work is better with that nasty person.

I love your drabbles. I don't know how you manage, not only to make a comprehensive story with so few words, but also always include words of wisdom in it. Hat's off! :)

So true - nice always lasts longer than nasty. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day :)

Good drabble woth a moral, nastiness can spread like wildfire if not nipped in the bud.
But than so does laughter.

Take care.

Nastiness and bullies are such terrible things. You're right, though - the nice is stronger and will remain longer. :-)

The older I get, the less I'm affected by bullies...maybe it's because I just snort and walk away. Snorting is very effective.

Nice people should get hugs every day so they know how much they're appreciated.

Great drabble! Hope the nastiness vacates your personal space soon.

The nasties are the ones with the problem, not the nicies. Work places sometimes fester with that stuff, and that's not fun.

Natasha, I'm so sorry about work trolls! It is nice though, when the nice trumps it. I hope it all improves soon!

Why do people have to be so mean? I don't understand it. Ugh, sometimes the world really gets me down. Well, one thing is: you made a wonderful drabble from bad events.

Thank you everyone for commenting.

You would think a 35 year old would be too old to attempt to bully a colleague, but apparently not. And I do think he underestimated me- he's in for a nasty shock SOON.

The nastiness is behind me, now, but I am not going to forget the niceness anytime soon, so guess who wins in the end?
