The moment she saw the marble floor, Layla knew she was in
trouble. It would be a miracle if she managed to navigate that vast expanse in
her stilettos. She imagined a dozen pair of eyes watching her as she took one
gingerly step after the other. She’d almost made it, when the inevitable happened-
she tripped, landed on her back and slid right across the lobby.
She wished she could become invisible, but this was no
fairy-tale. Instead she did the only thing she could. “That was some ride, wasn’t
it”, she said. And laughed. They laughed with her.

I used to be terrified of polished dance floors when I used to wear high heels. It's not a problem now. I've given up heels years ago. And yes, it is good for us to be able to laugh at ourselves.
