“I was back to running within 3 weeks of my c-section”, she said.
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. After a laparoscopic surgery,
I was advised not to run, climb stairs or lift weights for six weeks- a
c-section is far more invasive.
“I hope you cleared it with your doctor?”, was all I could say.
“Absolutely. And she was very supportive!”
A runner myself, I can understand her desire to get back to
running. What I cannot understand is how a qualified medical practitioner could
allow her to do so. Shouldn’t a doctor be able to assert herself?______

I always marvel at people's determination during recovery! I guess it's about knowing your limits and how much you can push them. :)
Sometimes doctors don't stop people over-doing recovery because it's better than the opposite, I think? Although 3 weeks is just amazing! I don't think I could...
I agree with Mia....
Natasha - I think caring doctors must get very frustrated when they give wise advice and patients don't follow it. I do admire the grit that it takes to recover from surgery, but I wonder sometimes if it can go too far.
