Vintage Valentine Card

I couldn't believe my luck when I found the card at an antique store. It was perfect for Christina. The chubby cherubs bearing hearts as plump as them. I could smell the lavender water, hear the rustle of silk. 'To my Valentine', it said. I could picture a lady pausing over the words, wondering which of her numerous admirers had picked the card for her.

It was destiny that put the vintage card in my hand when I was looking for something for Christina. It would add just that touch of whimsy to her stark chrome and glass corner office.

  1. love cards like that. And books--when I was a little girl I had a Kate Greenaway book, and I would stare at the pictures... what was I thinking? ;p <3

  2. Rayna - That's a delightful card! I also love the message of caring for someone enough to look for just the perfect thing for that person. :-)

  4. That's the way Valentine's Day cards should look, sweet and cute.

  5. I love your take on this card, it's so positive and fitting for what I suppose the spirit of Valentines is, or should be. It was a great antidote for my negativity about the celebration. A BIG thankyou.

  7. @ Leigh - I would really love a card like that framed. Not because I think it is great art, but because it is so in touch with the child in me.

@ Margot - some people just have the ability to get the perfect gift. I am never able to manage, but I admire people who can.

@ Diane - the story is fiction, but finding it on google images was great too!

    @ Jacqueline - thank you.

@ Dorte- thank you, so much.

@ Oddyoddyo13 - you don't, which is such a pity. It may be a little kiddish, but it has its own charm.

@ Debra - whimsical is the word that describes it, isn't it?

@ Alex - really, really old.

    @ Jemi - thank you.

@ Mason - I have to agree. MUCH nicer than the stuff you now find.

@ Sue - thank you, Sue. Love, Valentines, and all that jazz. None of it is really what it is cranked up to be- it is more, and less, but definitely different. I love your take on the whole thing too.

@ Barbara - there you go, a person who always finds the right gift!
