I guess when you are buying satin mukuts, dhotis and chunnis and silk flower garlands and fairy lights, you want an idol that LOOKS beautiful.
But I would rather have a terracotta idol that I know will not later be subject to the indignities of visarjan.Natashahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00481081735923606868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5041251042986195891.post-50350956978581355392008-09-02T09:30:00.000+05:302008-09-02T09:30:00.000+05:30Finding a clay idol that is not even painted is n...Finding a clay idol that is not even painted is not atall difficult
in Mallashwaram. But they are availabe only after noon the day before Ganesh chaturthi. So if you are in a hurry you have to settle for one that is not eco-friendly. I fail to understand why it is so difficuly to get a clay ibol in the place so famous for its Ganesh festival which incidentally is the biggest festival for the Maharashtrians. Here in Bangalore it is just one among the numerous festivals celebrated but finding a clay idol is very easy. I wonder why? Is it because we have still clung to our traditions and prefer the clay idols for our puja even though they are not hand made anymore but made using a mould..Bubbly Balahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06332331636427771158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5041251042986195891.post-48445401886481746942008-09-01T17:42:00.000+05:302008-09-01T17:42:00.000+05:30You said it right. It stinks so much that you cannot gofor a walk there until it is cleared.
More than that , it is hard to see the after effects !!
So, I now make a small Ganesha with the soil collected from some of the pots.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
